I learned from my mother. Happy Mother's Day Mom!
There are so many things I am grateful that my mom taught me, but this year I am especially thankful that she always took pride in being a mom.
In a world full of people who try and tell me that being a mom can never fulfill me or that being a mom is difficult and thankless, I am grateful that I had a mom who made motherhood a full time job. She poured so much energy into it that it gave her satisfaction and fulfillment. She threw herself into the lives of her husband, children and community. She was a mom to those whose mothers were unavaliable and the one you could call if you couldn't do carpool or bring treats to the soccer game. She learned with us as she helped us with homework and school projects and knows more about baseball than the average man because she spent so many hours watching my brothers play.
Her vacations were usually to watch dancing or games and much of her disposable income went to uniforms and costumes, but I never heard her complain--I only saw the pride behind her eyes when we finished a performance or an at bat. She never read a book on the sidelines or acted uninterested in my petty problems. She was avaliable and present the entire time I was growing up.
I've heard some say you can't be your child's friend and thier mother, but by mom knows how to do both. Growing up, she was a mom, a disiplinarian, the one you didn't want to dissapoint, and now I still don't want to dissappoint, but she is my cheerleader and my friend. Because of her, I know I can do all I set out to do. Because of her I know I can be the kind of mom I want to be. As I reflect on all she did, I'm starting to understand the committment and dedication it will take to do this. I love you mom!!!

What about swimmeets? So, I am a little disappointed that there is not a section dedicated to me, but I will get over it! I love your hair. Hope you had a great mother's day!

Brooke, this made me want to cry! You do have a great mom. I have very vivid memories of your family and they are all very happy and loving. I always loved hanging out at your house! You are a great daughter to say all these things. I'm sure you will pass along all of the greatness to your kids as well!
PS. If you stop blogging for a while, it better not be for 5 months like last time!!!
Thanks for the sweet words! I love you, too!
