The title is deceiving. My birthday was on the 26th, the day we left Rocky Point. My husband made us get a "Birthday sombrero," so I hope you like it because it will be in every birthday picture for the next million years. My birthday started out great, with all my friends making delicious crepes for me in the morning and singing Happy Birthday. It was so fun. We then packed up the house, drove home, went to the singles' ward to get a little church in (weren't they surprised when we came in with our 3 kids), ate a frozen pasta dinner (bummer) and didn't have cake (double bummer). But, I got lots of phone calls from great friends and family and fun presents from Mike and the boys (tickets to see a few plays in Tempe with the Broadway touring company, and a surprise trip to see Lyric in Boise while Mike took the kids for 4 days--yes, he is the greatest gift giver EVER. I always feel like such a loser when I present him with a new shirt and German chocolate cake.)
My goal was to write thank-you notes to everyone who sent me a card or a present, obviously it is not happening, but I am still working on it. Thanks for all your love. I can tell, 28 will be a great year.

I love the birthday sombrero, and I love that Parker is playing a yukalaylee! Despite no cake, I'm glad your birthday was a success!
Love the birthday sombrero...is 29 the year that Mike gets you a ticket to come see me?!!
Hapy Birthday! The birthday sombrero is the BEST!! You look darling in it!! =) Love the cute family picture, what a handsome & beautiful family!!
I HATE that my husband is better at birthdays than me. I'm actually relieved on the ones where he just takes me out to dinner--cause then I don't feel as bad with the lack of effort he gets from me on his. (He always says the best present is if I DON'T spend any money!)
Happy young birthday!
Happy belated to you! I love the sombrero and think it will make for a great and very funny family tradition. Hope year 28 brings you lots of great memories!
I agree with Nicole Willard that you have a handsome and beautiful family, but in that picture it kind of looks like your kids might have been selling chicklets on the streets of Mexico. They would have been the cutest beggars. I still can't believe James is in such a low percentile for weight. Seriously...check out those thighs! I love your husband. (Please tell him that for me). He gave you the best birthday present ever, and tell Jen that Boise birthdays are a new tradition so she better step back.
Birthday sombrero?!? He is one funny guy! Enjoy 28, cuz 29 kinda blows (at least so far).
Oh yeah...HAPPY freakin' BIRTHDAY! (the freakin' is silent). Hehe.
Happy belated Birthday!! I knew you were an August baby-just couldn't remember the exact day. Seems like at our age the actual day may not be completely fabulous but the gifts are!
