Summertime!!!

The summer is here and everyone was more than ready! We started things out with a full schedule, packing June with some of our favorite things.

Pierce did swimming lessons and LOVED them. He made tons of progress. He was a little fish by the end of the summer!

This boys spent most of his days coordinating social activities and taking advantage of his Lagoon pass!

June was also full of night games and hang outs with this crazy neighborhood crew.

The highlight of June for both Mike and Jace was their trip to Haiti. They were able to do so much good and have perspective and life changing experiences there. They loved their time at the orphanage, school, and in the homes of the people. So grateful for Mike and his desire to give our kids experiences like this. There are more pictures and experiences to come, but I need them to write them out for me!

Parker went on his very first scout campout and had a blast!!

We absolutely loved the couple of days we spent at the Hidden Valley pool. It is gorgeous, easy and so much fun. This little 4 year old knocked our socks off with his brave high dive jump!

One of my own June highlights was the Luca Magazine launch party! I had such a blast helping our team welcome the new magazine to the market. The party was a hit. I feel really blessed to be part of a magazine who wants to do so much good!

With Mike in Haiti, we celebrated Father's Day with my dad which was so much fun. My kids love to do candy bar posters for Mike, but with him gone, they decided to do one for grandpa instead!

Look at his beautiful yard! So much work and so worth it!

At Wendy's documenting that Parker ate the entire hamburger. Big deal over here.

This little man still comes into our bed about 50% of the time. When he wakes up at night, he is fully awake, chatting with me, then lays down and goes right back to sleep. He loves to snuggle me and sleep super close. He must be my last because I find myself smiling and giving him a big hug when he joins me at 3am...and who can resist that perfect little sleepy face in the morning?

Jace went to scout camp this year at Camp Loll and the THE BEST time. It felt like he was gone forever, but Jace said he wanted to stay longer it was so amazing. So grateful for his awesome leaders and the good boys he associates with. One of the best parts was hearing his leaders talk about what a leader Jace was. They said he was a hard worker, willing to do anything and was great, especially to the younger boys. I was so proud of him!

While Jace was at Scout Camp, we had our own gorgeous day in Salt Lake where we supporting the 5K race for Haiti. The kids ran in the race and they all finished in the top for their age group...Parker taking first place overall and James taking third place overall. They were awesome little runners!

After the run and party, we headed up Milcreek Canyon for a gorgeous afternoon on a steep hike. The boys are rockstars. Had my asthma not kicked in we would have kept going on and on...I was so mad I left my inhaler in the car! Still got a few steep miles under our belt in the mild weather and gorgeous sunshine. Being outside, in nature, is our family's happy place. So grateful to live in a state with so much beauty to offer.

Later that afternoon, we headed to Hill Air Force base to see the Air Show. It was a bit of a wait and we couldn't get into the base as it was already full, but what we saw was pretty amazing to most of us!

One thing that must be documented is the state of disarray we have lived in for the past 5 months. Quite the wood on the stair debacle that I wish we could have just changed, but once they are finished they will be beautiful. On the down side, we were walking over splinters and nails for months. Home projects are NO FUN!

We love living by grammy and loved our bowling day with the cousins one random afternoon while she was watching the Park kids!

Marci and Rick came into town for the 4th of July and we had serious party time! Nothing better than starting out the week with Hokulei Shave Ice. YUM!

Then we all spent some time at the Kaysville 3rd of July block party. It was pretty awesome. We LOVE living in a town that is so much fun. Sure make you happy to have it as your home.

Swinging shenanigans with the cousins!

The day of the parade, we went to breakfast at Kneader's. Yum!!

Enjoying the last half of the Kaysville parade. You can see who thought it was awesome.

And the city water fight begins. The coolest part about our city. We LOVE getting totally soaked together!!!

Except we don't love gutter water. Nasty!!!

This boy was tired of being wet.

 Showing off those muscles.

Later that day we had a huge BBQ with tons of delicious food, lots of family and backyard fun. It is one of my favorite days of the year. I love entertaining and feeding people and we all just sat out back and enjoyed each other and lovely day. I am so happy this holiday ended up at our house...I just love it.

Before the littles had to take off for bedtime, Mike busted out our small fireworks...they were still a hit.

Most of us headed up to the DATC for the big firework show. It was so AWESOME! I can't believe we have never done that before. A crazy band and then great fireworks to great music. The kids kept themselves busy with sparklers before the big show, then when the show started we all laid on our backs and stared up at the sky together...most the time singing the songs. My favorite moment of the night was when we were all belting out, "I'm Proud to be an American," as we watched the fireworks burst open above us. It make me so happy and grateful to be part of this country and to belong to these beautiful people. It was a magical night, one I will never forget.

The weekend after the 4th, we headed up to Park City for our Romney Reunion. The house we stayed in was positively perfect. Brand new and gorgeous with plenty of space and a view that was truly breathtaking.

Those two little boys spent a MILLION hours playing fusbal. The LOVED it.

The decktop hot tubwas a huge hit, with kids in there as often as we would let them!

We spent the first day at the Olympic Oval Park which received mixed reviews from some but our little family LOVED it and took advantage of all it had to offer.

The extreme tubing was completely and totally insane. The zipline was scary in the beginning, but overall just easy fun.

Riding up for a ride on the alpine slide...enjoying the gorgeous view.

The slide was lots of fun, but the line was way too long. Luckily we worked it so this kid got plenty o runs!

This kid wasn't even old enough to do the ropes course, but he KILLED it. He was so tough...it was pretty scary and challenging, but with Mike right behind him he completed it all, even the zipline at the end with hardly any fear. He is an awesome kid...so happy he is part of our family!

After waiting for over an hour the boys all got to do the jump tower. They were so brave! After the jump tower, we decided to finish off our day with the large ropes course. It was difficult and super scary for both me and Jace, but WE DID IT. My boys have made me so much braver and stronger. The Romneys do hard things!

We spent day two of the reunion at the lake. It was super choppy and windy and even a little chilly, but that didn't ruin our fun!

This inflatable playground was a highlight for sure!

One of our favorite things is our adult dinner. We love getting away from it all and enjoying our time together. This dinner in Park City at Wahso did not disappoint. Love this family of mine!

After church on Sunday we took a gorgeous hike before we had to end our vacation. It was the perfect way to end an awesome weekend!

What organization does Mike volunteer with? I would love to take my kids on a humanitarian aid project but the only ones I am familiar with would not allow kids. :( Mostly because I would go as a nurse so there wouldn't be much for kids to do. Looks like you guys had an awesome summer!
