There were lots of little things to love this summer.
I tried out a new hairstyle...the verdict is still out.
Our flowers just kept growing and growing. Our yard looked so great this year :).
We played in the Park City tournament where our boys started out awful, then ended the tournament playing better than they ever had before. So proud of them all. James had his best tournament yet with home runs and triples to the fence. So proud of him!!
James was chosen for the home run derby at the tournament of Champions. He didn't win but he was sure great!
One thing that makes all the baseball hours bearable are the families that we play with. Pierce has all these boys and girls he can't wait to see. He calls them his "baseball cousins," because they sure feel like family.
Nothing better than Cafe Rio for 50!
The end of our final game where the boys lost by one to an amazing team. They fought so hard and played so well. We were all so incredibly proud of their growth and grit this season!
On our way home from the games, we were lucky enough to make it to the Cullimore reunion where we had a blast connecting with grandparents and cousins and eating and playing all afternoon. I feel so blessed to be part of the Cullimore family which is truly a strength and example to me. I love them all so much!
Documenting Beau sweeping...just in case someone claims he never helps clean up.
This is a picture I will treasure forever.
Had to document the ice cream truck...something so magical about it no matter the age!
Our big plans for a family trip fell through this year, so instead we decided to take the boys real camping...in a tent, with all our food packed. Little did we know it would be AWESOME and we would all wish we could stay another night.
We headed up to the church's camp site, Zarahemla which was perfect for us...grassy camping area, and awesome river, bathrooms, a campfire and a rope swing. We spent the whole first day just enjoying every little piece of it. I loved watching Jace take charge and my boys getting their tent set up and ready to roll. Everyone was so helpful and excited...even in the heat.
This freezing river with a bit of a current gave us hours and hours of entertainment. The boys floated the river just in their life jackets and later took our little kayaks out and went down the river and dragged the kayaks back, over and over again!
Boys were made to spend most of their time in nature.
When we found a better campsite, we moved from our rocky hot spot to a shady grassy area that turned out to be perfect.
Camping was amazing for our family. ZERO distractions. ZERO electronics. Just dedicated time to be together.
The next day we ate a delicious breakfast then packed up and headed to a lake for the day. It was great, but in hindsight, we would have just stayed at our camp...relaxed and played in the river. Good to remember for next time though we did enjoy kayaking and swimming in the lake!
As we drove to Huntsville, it was obvious these boys were wiped out!!
We took the boys to Huntsville to enjoy BBQ and time to play in one of our favorite spots. Something about that town is just the greatest to us!
On our way home, we stopped at the store for a couple of things. The clerk asked my kids if they wanted chicken hats and they all immediately said yes and put them on. I would NEVER have been willing to look dumb in public and I consider it a small victory that my kids are so uninhibited. They are just plain awesome.
I was able to go on Fox 13 the Place again, talking about getting boys to read...one of my favorite subjects so it was a lot of fun! I wore a dress from Love Winnie James on the show and loved it.
Since Chaz missed out on our Park City fun, Mimi and Papa were nice enough to plan another super fun day at Boondocks. The kids LOVED it. But, that was only after we watched Olivia pin Chaz :).
We ended our crazy day with dinner and a concert at Station Park. Another one of those great summer days!
