A Little Florida Escape!

Once a year Mike and I try and take off for a few days to relax and reconnect. It is my favorite week of the year. This year we made his business trip into our vacation and it was wonderful! At the end of February we headed to Orlando for 5 glorious days. The best part? It doesn't matter what we do or where we go...being alone with Mike is always my ideal spot.

The trip started out well, our cab driver was Haitian. Just the beginning of many Haitian encounters. Mike's dream come true!

When we arrived it looked like clouds and rain for almost the whole trip! Painful. Luckily the forecast was wrong, but we were witness to a couple killer but short storms.

We decided to save money by not renting a car since there is an awesome trolley service in Orlando. After a day full of walking and walking, we were starved. We decided to try Sushi together. I wimped out and got a rice bowl, but had a bite of Mike's and it was so good. My teriyaki both was to die for! Yum!

We love having treats on vacation, so we stopped at the store for a little splurge. Won't tell you if we at them all :).

Most mornings we took long walks and enjoyed every moment of just being together. In the afternoon we would shop or sit by the pool. Loved the sunshine when we had it and loved reading my books on my Kindle. What did I do before I had one of these?

We had a few nights out on the town. Mike is the best on vacation...he can get us anywhere and loves an adventure.

Our super yummy English dinner. The fish and chips were to die for!

Spent Sunday at church and were shocked to see our temple right across the street! Wish we would have been able to do a session. It was bright and white a beautiful. Loved being there.

Mike asked all the Haitian where we should go eat, and he was in heaven with our Haitian meal. I was pretty impressed too. Such a blast watching him reconnect with his food roots and jabber in Creole. He was a happy man.

On Monday we headed to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. We felt like teenagers heading to a theme park without kids! We made the most of our day and went on every ride and many again and again. Mike was shocked by my bravery :). He imagined that I would be kind of wimpy, but I showed him. I have always loved roller coasters and could not get enough! Harry Potter world was another highlight!

Our very favorite thing was the Butter Beer in Harry Potter World. We had it frozen and it was SO good!!

On the last day, Mike had meetings so I just hung out in the sun alone all day. It was heavenly, although I missed the boys and Mike. We were staying at the coolest resort that would have been a blast to be at as a family....next time ;).
