Christmas Morning!

Two words to describe Christmas at our house this year, Positively Magical. My kids are at the PERFECT ages for the holiday and their excitement and pleasure was palpable all morning. I think I may have been as excited as they were to watch them experience Christmas morning. We loved it. It began early...6:45 and we leisurely worked our way through Santa's gifts and other presents. So. Much. Fun.

Santa really came through this year with bows and arrows for all the boys. They have been a fantastically fun gift and I'm so glad they got them. The boys did a great job of showing their gratitude for each gift. I loved that. Jace even said, "Mom, do we have Santa's address so we can send him a thank you note?"
The boys got Legos from my parents and did them all morning. They are a really great gift, one of those things you can never have too many of. It's kind of weird being away from family because you open all your gifts at one time. My parents did a cool thing this year...3 gifts representing what the 3 wise men gave...one gift like gold that is lasting (the trip to Branson), one gift like frankensence that is spiritual (2 church books and one church game) and one gift like myrrh that is for earthly enjoyment (Legos) plus "swaddling clothes." I thought it was a great way for them to do gifts!
We got a few fun games this year. Our family LOVES playing games.
And R/C helicopters. What boy wouldn't love that?
Pierce rolled out of bed about 9. He didn't seem to mind that he missed all the chaos. We love having him as part of our family.
No pictures of Mike or I opening gifts, but it was a great Christmas for us too. Mike got some much needed winter boots, clothes and a surprise Kindle Fire from his parents and he got me a great watch, perfume, boots and a few other things. We feel very blessed. While a white Christmas would have been nice, we loved that we were able to take the bows and arrows out right away and shoot. It has been a strangely warm December.

It was a little funny having Christmas on a Sunday, but we thought it was perfect. We loved being able to really worship and concentrate on the Savior's birth and life for the second half of the day. It brought everything into focus for us and made for a really beautiful afternoon.
What a great day! Merry, Merry Christmas!

I love the picture of the three boys shooting the arrows at the same time as well as I LOVE the last picture! It's a great one of you guys! Would be perfect if it had Mike :) I love your parents idea. I think I will have to do that for next year for the gift exchange with siblings! What a great idea! (But our gold will have to be smaller and more creative)

You are soooo right....your boys are at PERFECT ages to enjoy Christmas to the extreme. I love their Christmas jammies, and LOVE that they got bow and arrows. Maybe I'll try that one too.....why not, everything else becomes a weapon when you are a boy, right? Love that last picture of you and your boys.....adorable!!
