The excitement of his first derby (he LOVES being a cub scout)...
The cars all lined up, ready to race...
Jace's car (Mike is very into raising independent kids, so he let Jace do it all on his own. If I had any idea how to build anything, I probably would have tried to soup it but, but I have NO building skills, so it was all his)
Hopefully watching the first race...
His didn't win...almost ever. In fact it lost every race but one...
Do you think he enjoyed losing?
He didn't, but his good friend came in first place!
And Mike, ever the teacher, told him to stop pouting and check out the cars that were winning and see what they had done to make them so fast...go see where their weight was and what their shape was. He did, and it got him out of his funk, until he realized the winners got REAL prizes.
Hmmm, maybe next year we can get our friend's dad to help us out?

Pinewood derby is such a tough lesson in life at times. Those do it the right way and loose or have someone else do it for you and win. Though, one year John finally gave up and read up on everything, did it all and....they still lost! It is tough to loose, but way to have fun inspite of it!
Hmmm...love his pout! I think it is cool Mike let him do it on his own. I am sure he will learn for next year. Jace looks super cute in his scout uniform!
I totally stole that picture of J for my blog. Hope that's okay :) It's funny because I was talking to my dad about the pinewood derby and he was telling me that all three of my brothers won or did well in ONE of their pinewood derbies. All the rest of the times they did everything the same and worked just as hard with the cars and they never won again. I think that's the way it goes.
Hmm... even with all the right tools and dad helping, Jeffrey was right there with Jace losing almost every race! Great pictures!
Love his competitive spirit! Super cute pouting face. I actually added pictures from the baby shower in AZ, you'll have to scroll down on my blog and check them out. We'll talk soon!
Hilarious!! Pinewood Derby causes way too much stress for anyone! I'm ready to write a letter to Boy Scouts of America---(:
Way to go Jace--tell 'em you win the races that really count (:!!!
Tommy and I are Webelo leaders so I am too familiar with Scouts-- Congrats on the 4th kid! Exciting.
Ohhh...he is so cute in those pics! How big he looks in his cub scout uniform too.
