Pierce and I have the best time together. My favorite part of the day, for sure, is snuggling in his bed at nap time, reading way too many books, and having him ask me questions, giggle, and prolong sleep for as long as possible. Trying to savor every moment with him.
We also go to lunch quite a bit. More as an excuse to meet friends and play since I don't remember the last time I ate anything but fries from McDonalds!
Love his little happy face following me around all day long, every day.
One of my highlights, every year, is spending a week with Mike. This year, we decided to skip our annual trip and we have been regretting the decision ever since. To soften the sting, we took a quick weekend and headed into Salt Lake City and we had the greatest time. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE spending time alone with him. He is by far my favorite traveling companion.
We spent the night at Hotel Monaco, one of our favorites. After we arrived, we got settled in then set decided to keep our car parked for the entire weekend. We walked to an early dinner of Vietnamese sandwiches and they were so, so good!
After dinner, we took TRAX to the play ONCE at Kingsbury Hall. There was a train wreck, so we did a lot more walking and some running to make it to the play on time! We are glad we hurried because the play was incredible! The music was especially amazing, and I had my first experience of being overwhelmed by emotion as I listed to "Falling Slowly," during the finale. My whole body felt like it might burst and my usually non-emotional self couldn't hold back the tears. I bawled through the entire song. We had a lovely walk back to our hotel as we talked about what we loved so much about the play. I am so glad I married someone with such varied interests, who is always getting me out and helping me experience life in the fullest way possible.
The next morning we walked the quiet city and headed up the canyon on a nice hike. Love that Mike is so active and energetic too!
On our way back, we enjoyed the amazing flowers at Temple Square, and we loved playing the games that had been set out along the city sidewalks. We then got ready, and shopped at City Creek for hours...getting Mike a whole new, much needed wardrobe. Most of his clothes are so old and have been well worn and loved. We then headed to IKEA for more shopping and dresser purchasing. We were pooped by the end of the day! We stopped for a quick dinner, then decided a movie was the only thing that sounded good on our tired feet. After the movie we returned to quiet and clean house and were grateful for a good babysitter! It was a nice break, but I am pretty sure we won't skip that trip ever again!
