I am trying to be better at recording the little things.
One constant in our lives is Pierce making us all laugh and smile with his little antics. The youngest grow up too fast and we are all positively enjoying every minute with him.
I was able to join James on a school field trip to the Curiosity museum. I love being with him and his classroom...they are the most interesting and interested kids. I also love watching him lead in his class. He is just an awesome kid!
James wants to see how everything works all the time. He could have spent hours at each station figuring it all out. So cool to watch his little mind.
One night after dinner, we had the music on, and Mike and I were slow dancing in the kitchen. Pierce watched for a minute, smiling, then came over, right between us, and split us up, telling Mike, She's MY mom. It was the cutest.
After that, Mike danced with him, tackled and tickled him on the kitchen floor while the other boys giggled on the side. Just kind of a great night together.
I love that Pierce has a best friend named Emmi. They are the cutest ever together. One morning they were playing puppies. Emmi was the baby puppy and kept asking Pierce to sing her a lullaby and get her a blanket. Pierce said, "What's a lullaby?" When Emmi couldn't explain, he just sang her a random song. I loved watching them!
They are also awesome shopping partners at Sam's Club!
My kids had a seriously amazing experience of being in our Stake's production of The Lamb of God. They went to multiple practices and were able to be in the children's choir for both performances. It was an amazing spirit filled evening as they told the story of the last week of Christ's life through music. I was incredibly touched and so grateful they were able to be a part of the production. They all loved being a part of something so amazing! Love the opportunities they are having here!
Grandma, Katie and our cousins came to watch, then we went to grab custard after. Love having family support!
In February Jace was the grandchild of the month, which is such a fun tradition my parents started. For his activity he wanted to go to a JAZZ game and I was his date! It was an awesome night...we feel so lucky to be a part of this awesome family, and I loved spending the evening with him.
He absolutely enjoyed the food...all you can eat with ribs!!
Jace doesn't just watch sporting events, he attends them, fully. He talks the ENTIRE game, cheers, yells at the refs and acts like he is a 40 year veteran of the game. The guy next to him was a kid in his late 20s cheering for Memphis and Jace talked in his ear the entire first half. I thought we should move him for the second half, but by the end of the game, those two were BFFs...chatting together about the game and life. Jace found out that he had moved to Utah for his company, which he just sold for a couple million dollars, so he bought great JAZZ tickets. Jace's confidence and ability to make friends with anyone of any age or status continually amazes me. He will be such a force for good!
It was a blast to spend the evening just with him. He is such a sweet boy and even though I am his mom, he still always watches out for me.
One of the less fun moments was James' ear surgery. We thought it would be an easy fast thing, but it included much more than we realized. They had to take a skin graft from behind his ear and then use it to repair his ear drum. He was in surgery for a little over an hour, and though it was routine, I was surprised by how nervous I felt. It made me especially grateful for generally healthy children. All went well and his recovery was quick and relatively easy. He is a tough boy...love him so much!
Waking up was a little tough. Lots of pain right away, but he was great.
Parker made it to the school spelling bee and did really well. He was disappointed because he had studied super hard, but they changed the format at the last minute and he was a bit thrown. He made it to the last round before the finalists were chosen, so he didn't get to go to district. He is such a smart and determined kid. After working so hard, he came home and cried in his room for a little bit because he was so sad that he didn't get to go on. Love his drive!
This boy is sometimes a casualty of our crazy busy life. This is where I find him every now and then. Poor youngest child!
The Sunday before St. Patrick's Day, my mom orchestrated a little treasure hunt. They thought it was super awesome!
And, one of the biggest moments...we registered Jace for Jr. High!! I cannot believe that will be happening next year. I think he is ready, but it is still too crazy!
