Parker's Birthday!

Eight is a big year, so there are going to be lots of Parker posts, but he deserves them. This year he got to party for almost 1 week!

The Saturday before his birthday Mike took him out to breakfast. It's kind of a bummer when Mike is gone on their very birthday but I love that he still takes the time to fill the tradition.

Parker's birthday was on a Monday and he woke up (at 5:45 am because James was so excited it was his birthday, he woke him up) to a room full of balloons, streamers on the door and signs all over giving the 8 reasons we love him so much.

I told him we would open his presents at 7am, so right at 7, that is what we did. One thing I love about my kids is that they are not greedy children. If they have a birthday party we just get them one or two small gifts and they are always fine with that. They are awesome boys.

This year from us, he got a Harry Potter Wii game and a new sketch pad and he was thrilled.

For breakfast he requested monkey bread and eggs, so that is what the lucky little feller got.

For lunch, Pierce and I met Parker at school armed with Subway, Doritos and Fanta. I love this new tradition of ours!

After school, I let Parker open the present from Grandma and Grandpa. It was a really fancy new art kit plus art lessons! Parker is so excited. It is so sweet to watch him cherish something so much.

That night he requested quesadillas for dinner and mint ice cream sandwiches. So easy! Can't argue with him on that one. He was also king for the day so he got to do basically anything he wanted and didn't need to clean up at all. Being his sweet self, he kept trying to clean up (even more than normal). We just love him so much. It was a great day!!

The next Friday Parker had his big birthday party with 12 friends. He wanted a sports party, but with shaky weather we needed an indoor spot much bigger than our house, so we used the church. It was a really awesome party, exactly what all the boys were hoping for. I thought we would need some organized games and things but they were perfectly happy playing soccer, flag football and basketball. Mike ran the party while I got the pizza and ice cream sundae bar ready. It was a great night. I am so grateful that Parker has such kind friends!

Looks like a great party! It was hard for me this year with the spring birthdays and having Easter so early! It looks like you guys did great though Parker is a lucky boy.

Looks like a great party! I would have never thought to use the church. I really should be more creative in that respect. Glad you all had a great birthday for him. The monkey bread looks so good. What recipe do you use?

So fun! What a cute kid. Mine is almost 8 too - seems like it's so crazy she's that old!
