So, we were SO GRATEFUL when my mom decided to come out. Honestly, I don't know how we would have been able to do it without her. We worked her to the bone and she left exhausted and probably 5 pounds lighter. Thanks one billion, mom.
It was kind of weird to say "good-bye" but only be going about 20 minutes away. We had lots of great memories at 2339 Stone Road, mostly because of the people, sandboxes, forest, community dinners, fall evenings, fun events, open fields, on-call fix it, the creek (with its ridiculous amount of crayfish and frogs), and snake hill (with its ridiculous amount of, you guessed it...snakes). It was, hands down, the best way for us to go back to school.
The accommodations were far less than desirable...the one bum kitchen, one tiny bathroom, no counter top, the portable dishwasher, the creaky floors, the crazy amount of dust and the serious lack of space, but we grew as a family and made the best of each moment. Moving from there, our new house feels like a mansion :).
Before we did the most serious packing, my mom took the boys to the creek to capture some of their favorite things:
We loved settling into our new place! The choice to paint everything was a good one and thanks to some serious elbow grease from my mom, the house felt great on move in day. Mike was an animal getting all the boxes and furniture in and we are so grateful to be part of a church that helps us out. Honestly it is amazing that there were 6 guys helping us move out and 10 guys that we had never met helping us move in...for nothing more than a doughnut! So grateful to be part of such a wonderful organization.
One of our first Saline stops was Mickey's Dairy. Really good hard homemade ice cream at reasonable prices and so charming. We'll definitely be back. |
A photo of our awesome garden. The homeowners allowed us to come in and plant in mid-May. We have taken care of it since and when we moved in were met with some lively and flourishing plants. |
Piercey loved getting to spend some time with my mom. |

One more picture before grandma leaves! Couldn't have done it without her. |

We certainly miss having your great family right here but it's been fun to see you a few times since the big move :) I need to come see your new house still! Maybe after this baby decides to come...
I wish I could come out and see the new place! So glad you survived the move! Look forward to hearing all the great new things you will find so wonderful about the new place!
Crazy what men will do for a doughnut haha. Glad you are into your new place and it's hopefully bigger and better than the old. Please share more pics :)
we are in the process of a similar type of move - just across town and it's true about feeling like it won't be that hard so you kind of let things go. i realized yesterday that i have SO MUCH to do still. thankfully, i still have 1 1/2 weeks, but still! i hate moving. i didn't realize your last house was so tiny! i'm sure you're enjoying your new one a ton! your photos make me miss all the greenery of the east.
