Grandma Romney

Mike's grandma is 93, and oh how I'd love to be so spry when I am that age. She lives in SLC, and we were lucky enough to visit her while we were there. She is a strong and proud lady who was a bit of a feminist for her era--a rare woman who seemed to be able to reconcile being true to herself while loving her husband passionately and caring for her children with devotion. She helped put him through Harvard and loved him unconditionally while he suffered with Parkinsons, but is happy to share stories of life through her eyes, as a woman, not just a wife or mother. She continues to be active and engaged in life, even as her health declines. Each time we visit I am reminded of some of the reasons the Romneys are such a stalwart family. We love her so much and are so grateful for her love and example. She still sends us thoughtful, handwritten notes full of praise and love to us for just being ourselves. This is the reason families were created--so we could all look up to someone who looks down on us with love.
