Golf Sales
The Nationwide golf tournament was on the golf course my parents live on, so my dad came up with the idea of letting the boys sell drinks and treats. We were pretty impressed with their stamina and desire to make a buck. Before we left, they made $100...$20 each which is big money for little kids. Ezzie and Luke finished selling on Saturday and they each made another $80. Wow!
Bees Game
We love going to the Bees game as a family. This year it was almost as fun (except for the grumpy lady in front of us who made Ezra cry). The highlight? Treats during the 4th inning. For some reason, a box of Sour Patch Kids tastes so much better when it costs $4 and is eaten at the ballpark.
The Zoo, again.
We had to make one last trip to the zoo. This time we did it on a members only night. The weather was perfect, there was hardly anyone there and grandpa and Mike even made it for a bit. It was a wonderful evening...not sure we'll ever go during the day again.
Swimming!!
We finished up the summer with lots of pool days at Grandma and Grandpa Olsen's pool. We are so lucky they have one. So many of my memories as a little one were in their backyard at their swimming pool, and now my kids will have those same memories of warm pool water, red hot brick, and diving for blue tiles while grandma and grandpa Olsen watch with smiles under the shade of an umbrella. I love sharing memories with my kids. They also thoroughly enjoyed their last swimming sessions and became such great swimmers.
The 24th of July
Such a super fun time to be in Utah. After the Days of 47 parade, swimming, and BBQ, we headed to Butlerville Days, where the kids surprisingly liked the free fireman's station the very most. The night turned windy, rainy and a bit cold, but we pushed through, huddling under blankets, listening to music and waiting for the fireworks. When they started we all sang Kaite Perry's "Firework" together and ate kettle corn as we watched the sky light up. It was one of those little magical moments.
Ellie's first birthday! We were lucky enough to be in town to celebrate this little girl turning one. Everyone was so happy to celebrate with her. All she wanted? Snow cones...and no one objected to that for a birthday treat. We all do love this only little girl.
Hollywood ConnectionFor some reason, I only have one picture of this fantastic day, but Hollywood Connection was hands down on the very tip top of our list. We got a great internet deal and spent 5 hours rushing through the indoor fun dome. The best part? Watching Jace, Ezra and Luke try to rollerskate for the first time. Honestly, so funny the adults could hardly stand up. Parker and James were zipping around on their rollerblades like old pros, and the other 3 were falling down every few seconds. The cool thing? They all got back up and kept trying. By the end of the day, they weren't too shabby. They loved the indoor rollercoaster and especially the arcade games where we won 1200 tickets. Such a fun day they wanted to do it again and again!
Tennis Lessons
All the boys took tennis lessons again this year and enjoyed being out and being active. There was even a little improvement :)!
Wheeler Farm
One afternoon Grandma braved it and took all 5 boys to Wheeler Farm without the moms. They loved being there, just like always. She is amazing to handle them all, all by herself plus get a billion darling pictures of the crazies. They love her so much an she was such a support and help to us all this summer. She's amazing!!!
Conference Center
One Thursday afternoon, we headed downtown to meet my mom at the conference center. She's been volunteering there for years and years and is a great tour guide. The boys loved being there with her and taking in the gospel.
The Church History Museum
Hmmm, maybe the best kept secret in Salt Lake. They have a positively fantastic children's area that is a mini children's museum, but it's free. We spent all kinds of time there exploring the Book of Mormon exhibits and other interactive stations. We had to drag the boys out!
Downtown Fountains
I'm sure this is not what the city had in mind when they built the beautiful fountains in downtown Salt Lake, but leave it to 5 boys to figure out how to make everything a bit more exciting :)!
Bowling with Grammy
When I was trying to get us all packed and ready to go, my mom took all the boys bowling. They had a blast eating pizza and and throwing balls then doing a little glow-in-the-dark golf. They all came back with big smiles and a few little trinkets to enjoy. Everything is more fun with Grammy.
Last Golf Night
While we didn't golf quite as much this summer, but the boys still loved going, so we tried to sqeeze one last golf outing into the mix. Everyone is improving so much and really loving the game. Thanks Gramps for the fun and instruction! To them Golf means Grandpa!
This recap hardly does it all justice. It was just a wonderful, beautiful summer where our relationships with each other became so much stronger and more solid. I feel so blessed to be a part of my family...I'm grateful everyday for them in my life. I've said it a million times, but my parents are the absolute greatest, as both parents and grandparents. I love them so much. And it was especially rewarding to be able to live with my sister and her family for those few weeks and get to know her and her kids like I will never have the chance to do again. She is the greatest and I look up to her in so many ways...I cannot imagine going through life without a sister; it's one of those relationships every girl should have and mine is the best.
We miss everyone so much!
So...all of our out of town escapades are finished and now I can start blogging about our Michigan summer and hopefully this baby just around the corner! Lots and lots of exciting things in our future!
