Best of Michigan: Christmas Tree Cutting and Crossroads Village

Have you ever cut your own Christmas tree? Pretty cool that you can do that in Michigan. We went out with the troops on a sunny and frigid day to a Tree Farm in Lansing and found Kelly and Mitch a real beauty! It was such a blast and the boys were crazy about the whole experience.

James loved the sled we used to transport the tree.

Mitch loves this new family tradition ;)...he was just glad Mike was there to help this year and there wasn't any snow to lay in while he was sawing with a 70 year old rusty saw with blunt edges. The rest of us fully enjoyed the experience.

Crossroads Christmas in Flint is a real must see...
You can hug Frosty...
Sit in an old school house and write letters to Santa...

This is Jace's letter. He wants a baby sister for Christmas...he is going to be very disappointed.

You can ride the fastest carousel ever...

And take a long and warm train ride...

And even see Santa Claus...

It was even fun when the weather outside was 29 degrees, so that says something, plus there were fireworks and other fun things to see! While we were waiting for the train, my boys looked up and saw tiny flakes of snow floating by the lights. On the train as we were singing Jingle Bells with each adult snuggling a little one it felt just like Christmas should feel...warm, happy and close. I loved it.

I have always wanted to cut my own christmas tree. How fun! That place looked like it was the best. And maybe next year he can get that baby sister for Christmas. :)

How fun! When we lived in Georgia we cut our tree down at a tree farm too-and with an old blunt saw as well! It just doesn't seem like Christmas here being 75 degrees today but it looks so fun to bundle up. I am cracking up at James hat!

You guys are the cutest family ever!! You even put the Griswalds' to shame with that amazing Christmas tree you chopped yourself! And no boy should be disappointed about not getting a baby sister for Christmas. Now, let's get working on that (:

We cut down our Christmas tree once when I was a kid - except our trip was cut short, because my dad almost cut off his thumb, so we had to head to the ER instead of getting a Christmas tree.

How do you still look so cute when it's -2 degrees outside?
