Halloween is usually a bit of an after thought to me, but my kids are really getting into it now that they are a little older and everyone was excited for the big night. All the boys were action heroes (I know, not that cute or original, but they will put them on and they are not too hot). We were heading over to the trunk or treat at 5 and Parker started feeling sick about 4. He threw up (he hadn't even eaten candy yet) and seemed so sick, but he really wanted to go to the party and "just let dad hold me." So we all got ready to go. We had chili and treats and pumpkins and the second he steps out of the car, he pukes everywhere. He felt so sick, he actually asked to go home. Poor baby.
So, Jace and James and I partied it up at the chili cook off and trunk-or-treat. My chicken and white bean chili won first place, so that was pretty exciting for me!
We got home and Jace and James wanted to trick or treat. We went around our block and Jace stopped at a friend's house to watch a movie on their garage door, but you could not deter James from trick-or-treating. At just barely 2, he walked everywhere and carried a heavy candy basket too, no stroller or wagon. He would get up to the house and say, "Trick or treat. Thank you." Then he'd turn to me and say, "I wanna go to another Halloween house." This candy thing was just too good to be true for him. When someone would say, "Are you Spiderman?" He'd say, "No, I'm baby James." All the people handing out candy just loved him, and I had such a fun night just walking hand in hand with my boy.
When we got home, we made a graph with all of our candy then dumped it into one big bowl so Parker would be able to have some when he felt better. They are such good boys to each other, and I'm starting to realize that Halloween really can be fun.

Poor little Parker. I love the costumes. James is such a crack up. Better get used to a house full of super heroes. Doesn't look like that will change any time soon.
Oh little Parker's sick face is so sad! Hope he is all better. How stinkin cute is your little James trick or treating. Love that he wanted a stroller and a skateboard for his birthday-what a kid.
K so you know everyone is going to be asking for that chili recipe! WELL< I AM FOR SURE!!!! HELLO? I NEED That!

Could your boys be any sweeter?? They are adorable. I love reading your blog each time you update it. You truly are super mom and an inspiration!
Steve and I were thinking about taking a mini vacation to San Diego in Jan. and we were wondering if you or anyone in your family has a recommendation for a hotel on the water? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Hope things are well with you all!
Thanks,
Kerri
Thanks! We are loving being parents more than we even could have imagined. I know I'm preaching to the choir.
Steve and I are taking Kayden and probably my mom for a long weekend getaway if we can get it planned. I think we'd go for 3 or 4 nights. We just want something on or near the water. Please tell me about your condo. It might be out of our price range, but I'd love to hear more about it.
I truly do love reading your blog Brooke- you are an amazing writer and even more inspiring mom. You have such a beautiful family and your relationship with Mike is something to be admired. I would love to keep in touch more often.
Can I get your email address so we can email directly?
All the best,
Kerri
