I am so exctied! One of my articles just made the front page of the Living section in the Arizona Republic.
I write weekly for the community portion of the paper that circulates to Gilbert residents, but the main paper serves the entire 4 million person Phoenix metro area. I'm ecstatic!
It was a fun article to write all about baby names...check it out and let me know if you agree with the baby name guru.

Way to go! I am so proud of your writing accomplishments! Love, Mom
Congratulations! that is an awesome accomplishment! i really enjoyed your article too!
That is awesome. I definitely agree with the guy on all his points. It seems baby names are getting very strange and crazy these days and I feel so bad for those kids when they get older!
Congratulations! How exciting for you! Good job with the article too.
Congratulations! That's awesome!
I'd have to say I agree with the guy. Especially on the name spelling thing. My sisters and I used to make fun of weird spellings by making up our own: Mehllanneighy. Don't you think it's pretty? I think I'll legally change it.
Nice going Brooke!! That is pretty impressive. Great article:)
Congrats that is so exciting!
Wow I know a famous Arizonan. GOOD JOB!
That is so fun!!!
And I totally dislike made up names. It seems like in heavily Mormon areas, and maybe because of all the babies all the time, people take two normal names, break them up and then stick them back together? There aren't enough normal names in the world?
And since I'm thinking about naming this one Faith, I'm glad to see it's declining in popularity!
Congratulations! That is so great!! I love the article! It applies to Jeff & I now as we are trying to pick names out for our son. Great things to keep in mind.
Brooke,
That is great! Congratulations!
Yeah, great job!! You are so great and it is time the whole greater phoeinx area knows it!!!
I totally agree with the guru. Especially on the spelling and pronunciation points... I love my name but no one can ever spell or pronounce Jennae. That was a big factor in picking Savannah's name. I figure it's long, but at least everyone can pronounce it! And you're a great writer, I say being on the front page is long overdue for you. Congrats.
We are so proud of you that is so exciting. You are a great writer! I am sure we will be soliciting some of those writing skils while Spencer is in law school. We had so much fun while you guys were in Utah. We are missing you so much and we are excited to see you on Saturday!
Congrats!! What an accomplishment and well deserved!
That is great!!! I did blog awards and you won! Check out my blog.
Wow! Very impressive. The article was well done, professional, and very insightful. Let's hope some of these celebrity parents take your advice.
Brooke, I didn't know you are a writer- very interesting. It's fun to see your adventures and life in Arizona. We just 'separated from our extended family blog (www.sheltonfam.com) to www.sheltoncandy.com so it's just our little family of four.
I am so happy for you & proud of you! I loved the article, it got me thinking of Madalynns name & how it is a different spelling, whoops!
CONGRATS!!!
My friend Lindsay and I were just discussing this subject, as she just had her 3rd baby girl and always agonizes (and unnecessarily second-guesses) her babies' names. She has chosen classics: Isabella, Lauren, and finally, Audrey. She has a friend who named their son: Jasper Nofear. NO FEAR -Seriously?????? And Phil has a friend with boys named, Zoom and Bravery. To each his own, but I agree with the guru that you should consider how the name will affect your child's life. I will never forget my mom's friend who was an inner-city teacher and had a student whose name was Shithead. Pronounced: SHUHTHEED.
