Such a great summer this year that absolutely flew by! A few more highlights...
Mike headed to Haiti to help Zion's Children with their summer camp. He came back with a fresh perspective on our wonderful life.
These kids did lots of snail finding...we had plenty ;). I love our neighborhood, there is always something good going on.
We did a lot of swimming...mostly at Cherry Hill with our neighborhood gang, but also at Grandma Olsen's!
Had some family time while Mike was traveling A LOT this summer. Here is Mitch, who weights 175 showing us his 250 pound face :). He made us all laugh so hard that night. Love him!
Pierce eating pounds of tomatoes from the garden. It was so much fun to sit with him each day and eat tomatoes in balsamic. He loved harvesting all of our veggies with me. My little garden helper!
We spent one of the last summer days at the Museum of Natural Curiosity. Such a cool place! So glad grandma got a pass there!
One gorgeous summer morning I took the boys to walk through the remodeled Ogden temple. It was such a beautiful place. We all really enjoyed the fantastic art work and the spirit we felt while there. It was amazing to see how my wild kiddos showed such respect while in the temple. Jace especially felt the spirit while we were there and we had a sweet discussion on the way home about his love for such a holy place. He can't wait to go when he is 12. I am so grateful to be surrounded by temples!
I wrote this post giving my boys advice before the first day of school on my Mom Explores Michigan blog. It was a popular one and one of my very favorites!
For my birthday, Mike surprised me with a trip to San Diego with one of my very favorite friends, Lyric! He took care of everything including grabbing a Zumba sub for me and babysitters so I would not have to worry. It was exactly what I needed after a summer full of his travels and lots of kid time. Amazing what 3 days of relaxing, shopping, eating and chatting can do for the soul. Mike is such a great man and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure I am happy! He always knows what I need before I do.
The view outside our hotel in Carlsbad was fantastic!
We spent Thursday night at the street fair enjoying lots of food, dessert, music and people watching.
We ate some great stuff, including these homemade potato chips, wedge salad and fancy french dip from the Local Tap House. MMMM.
We did a lot of long beach walks just enjoying the perfect weather, sunshine and a chance to work off all our yummy food!
We sat by this roof top pool each afternoon, reading, talking and sunning. Not pictured...all the shopping ;). We were too busy for photos! All in all it was a perfect weekend!
