After 6 days enjoying the Bretts, we spent the weekend reconnecting with the Romney family. It was such fun to be together...we hadn't seen many of the cousins or aunts and uncles for over 10 years! Mike and I were at BYU with quite a few of the cousins and many of us have stayed in touch through blogs and instagram, so it was fun to finally be face to face!
We started with a family dinner and some play time at Doug and Marcy's home, which is the ideal place to host a party. There was lots of mixing, mingling, playing, and reconnecting. The kids, like always, jump right in and are fast friends.
Here they are lining up and doing tricks for the adults who were giving them scores for their dives and cannonballs.
That night we headed to Priest River where we stayed in Doug and Marcy's awesome cabin that comfortably slept most of the families. It was such fun to be together in the morning and evening. Not a bad place to pass the time :).
This is what we woke up to every day...a boy's paradise with fishing, paddle boats, row boats, grass and water to swim in. They were all sure they never wanted to leave!
On Friday we headed to Hayden Lake to spend the day at the Daines' lake house. How lucky are we to have 2 wonderful spots in the family close enough together to enjoy? The Daines' pad was awesome with a huge grassy area for some serious volleyball and soccer play plus a sandy beach and more water toys than I can name. It was such a party! I loved watching my boys enjoy the outdoors and the adults loved taking the time to catch up on 10 years of life.
This game looks fun, but it was intense!
It had been horribly hot all week in Spokane, then on our lake day it was a bit overcast and chilly until the later afternoon. It made the adults a little timid, but it didn't stop the kids!
Mike got out on the paddle board...wish I would have gone!
James and Jace spent the entire day in the water. James kayaked alone for hours. He loves the outdoors and loves the water. Made me wish we lived on a lake!
Mike showing his stuff behind the boat. He's pretty awesome!
Meredith at 7 months pregnant putting us all to shame!
Mike put together a fun "Family Home Evening," that helped us all get to know each generation a little better. We are part of such an awesome family!
The sunshine came out and the games kept going!
Saturday we spent on Priest River at Doug and Marci's cabin. We had great food, too much fun and all kinds of fabulous memories.
Parker and James both got up on the skis this time! So fun!
Towards the end of the day, all the moms decided to go on a boat ride and show their stuff. I had not waterskied for ages and had never wake-boarded, but I have been trying to be brave, so I decided to give it a try. After 8 shots and a belly full of water, I called it quits, but I tried!! All the cute girls kept encouraging me and telling me I was "almost up." I didn't feel almost up :). Kevin was the most patient driver.
I felt much better in the boat ;).
Loving the fire pit and s'mores!
Jace found some girls his age that he had a blast with!
Is there anything more beautiful? It really was such a gorgeous and serene place.
So sad to see our fun end! 2 1/2 days was not enough! No wanted wanted to go home, but we left with unforgettable moments that will stay with us forever!
