James! I cannot believe you are already 7. For some reason you still feel like my baby, even though we have Pierce. We got to spend so many great years together just the 2 of us, and you liked doing some of the same things I liked to do. You love playing games and being read to and I loved doing that with you. This has been a huge year for you! You are growing up and getting so old, but you are still little in so many ways. Sometimes it is hard to be the third in a group of brothers...you have been forced to be big and old way too fast, but it has its advantages. You have been able to learn from them and are so smart. You amaze us every day. You are a great athlete because you play against them and it shows when you play kids your own age. You are so funny and keep our family laughing all the time (although we wouldn't mind if you learned how to be a little more appropriate and timely :). Your laugh is contagious and you love to share it!  It is fun to watch you with your friends and at school...you are a natural leader and someone kids flock to. You are also incredibly kind and have a strong moral compass. You tell me stories all the time about how you stand up for the right thing at school and make sure others have friends. It's amazing what you can take in and put to use at such a young age. We are so proud of you!  We love your independence and the way you can entertain yourself and how you get lost in your own little world at times. You are so inquisitive and interested in everything and incredibly determined in a quiet way. It is such an amazing quality and we can't wait to see what you do with it. You are sensitive and because of your tough outer shell it is easy to forget that, but you love to be loved and hate to be in trouble or yelled at. You can be extremely flighty and spacey. You can spill or drop something and not even notice, even if it is a full cup of milk :). You love family and cherish your immediate and extended family. You have been such a great playmate to Pierce and we appreciate that so much. We are so happy he has a brother who still loves to play. It has been a big year for you with lots of transitions. We are proud of the way you have handled them all. You are an asset every where you go. We appreciate your good and happy attitude with all the changes and your willingness to give your new, harder school a try, even if recess and gym are more fun at your old school. We feel so blessed to be your parents and are constantly amazed by who you already are.
