St. George Weekend, March 2015

Sometimes the stars align and during one March weekend, that is exactly what happened. Our family was heading to St. George AGAIN for James' first baseball tournament, and it just so happened that the Brett's were going to be at Tuachan for a concert. We were able to watch baseball, vacation with the Romney's and see the Brett's perform. Pretty awesome trifecta in one weekend.

The tournament started on Thursday morning, bright and early. Unfortunately Mike had to leave town, so we were on our own for the beginning. Lucky for us, Grandma and Kathy woke up at the crack of dawn to be there to support James too and help me out with the others.

With this being the first time the Bandits had ever played baseball together, our expectations were pretty low...but they started the tournament looking pretty great and only lost the first game by 1 point. The second game we got creamed...but they boys had a blast playing together. James looked pretty good at catcher and had a a few walks and base hits.

The second day, they looked like a completely different team and were so awesome! The won both games by a lot of runs, made great plays, and really hit the ball. With bases loaded and two outs, James hit a GRAND SLAM. It was awesome. He was also an incredible catcher and his team always played better with him behind the plate. They didn't go on (though they were close), but that was okay. James had a blast having Grandma and Grandpa cheer him on and everyone felt great about their first tournament.

At the end of the second game, Mimi and Papa arrived to party with us for the rest of the weekend. We started things off right with a late lunch and a stop at the candy store.

We then checked into our historic house and opened a little Easter gift...new swimsuits and shirts. Hooray!

The boys quickly jumped in the pool and spent the rest of the afternoon swimming!

Things got even more fun when Jenni and Jed arrived with their cute kids in tow. Pierce was so happy to have a little buddy.

The next morning we started things off with breakfast at Kneader's. It was our first time and we were positively impressed.

We then took the family on our favorite hike...Butterfly Trial in Snow Canyon. It is just right for a family of all ages.

Mimi came very prepared in her hiking outfit.

James was pretty serious about wanting to find some of the animals on the trial.

My big boys gave everyone a heart attack as they climbed without fear and with incredible speed up high mountains and scary crags. They constantly amaze me with their bravery and athleticism. They do not get it from me!

They were crazy fast!

The rest of us eventually got to the top too!

We had a hard time getting Pierce to come home. He just wanted to sit and play in the sand.

After our hot hike, the boys put the tennis court to use.

And when the Gines returned, everyone got in the pool. When Jed jumps in you know there is going to be some wild and crazy fun.

My favorite was when he wrestled Rick, then picked him up and tossed him. It was awesome.

Before the Brett show, we grabbed a little dinner at 25 and Main.

Then settled in for a great show by the Bretts, with lots of family there to cheer them on!

Pierce even found Gumpy...one of his favorites!

Our time together went way too quickly. Sunday was our last day, and these two littles dressed in their dapper Easter suits. They were too cute!!

After church, we got to see the St. George tabernacle and learn a little more about our ancestors! The kids were a bit crazy, but it was still awesome to be there all together.

After lunch, we had an impromptu celebration for Parker's birthday. He loved it!

Then we had to head home, but had lots of fun memories to take with us!!

The Blessing

The event everyone came for was the blessing of our sweet Pierce Olsen Romney. It was a beautiful church service and the blessing Mike gave to Pierce was so sweet and inspired. He is a special spirit and I am so excited to see who he becomes.
Mike blessed him that he would see the needs of others, be kind, be able to recognize the Spirit guiding his life, that he would love learning and education, that he would love his brothers, honor his parents, that he would serve a mission, and marry the woman he loves in the temple and so much more.
It's interesting as he gave him that blessing filled with all our hopes and dreams for him, I couldn't help but realize that these are God's hopes for him too. There is so much potential and light in these little ones and I feel so blessed to be a part of their lives, to help them figure out to share and express that light what a tremendous responsibility and blessing.

My Gerber baby, love those cheeks

His cute little outfit that he pooped all over at church...that is why there is only one picture. Isn't that always how it goes?  Blowouts on all white clothing :). Undershirt in the trash at church and outfit soaking in the laundry area. Oh well, you can't expect perfect.
We had great food! Curry chicken salad sandwiches (recipe to come!), our "go to" salad with  lettuce, green apples, craisins, sweet and spicy pecans and feta cheese with vidalia onion dressing, pineapple and oranges with toasted coconut, gluten free chocolate chip cookies and chocolate caramel bars--deeelicious!

It was just a wonderful day and one I will always remember. We love our Piercey so much!
