First Day of School and Happy Birthday to Me!

Before we started school, everyone needed a good haircut, but especially Jace. We all loved his new do! He looks so handsome.

The boys were all excited and nervous to start at a new school. We had a whirlwind month and barely had things unpacked enough to make lunches and get dressed, let alone emotionally prep them for everything being new since we moved in only 2 days before school started. It was fun to have dad with us to walk to the new school. We love our location since we are only about 1/2 a block from the elementary school. It is fantastic. The kids had lots of friends they had met at church who were eager to show them the ropes. We moved in to a GREAT spot.

This guy was really not nervous at all.

Parker was lucky enough to find some good buddies and started the new year easily.
James was brave and goofy before we entered the school, but when we went through the doors, he gripped my hand hard and was so nervous. As we got closer to his classroom he started to cry, then hated that he was crying. It was so hard to watch him be sad :(. He was brave enough to let me leave and ended up having a great day.

Pierce was going to be alone for the very first time in a long while!! These boys are so handsome...I am so grateful to be their mom!

Since it was my birthday, Mike got a picture of me with all the boys. It was a very weird birthday since Mike had to leave town and I was in a new area in a new house with millions of boxes to unpack. Not typical, but as Mike said, "You got the biggest present you will probably ever get :)"

My birthday did end up being pretty great! Sharee and Kelly came up with little Beau and Maddy and as their present to me, helped me unpack for hours. So awesome and so thoughtful! I got to see happy smiles on the faces of all my boys after their first day at a new school and watched them play outside in our cul de sac with new friends. I got a box of cupcakes from a gal in my neighborhood I had just met and who wanted to wish me a happy birthday, and maybe the sweetest part of my day was when my boys insisted that they buy me dinner at Cafe Rio. They brought their own money and would NOT let me pay. Jace said, "Dad would not be happy with us if we let you buy your own dinner on your birthday." He is creating such good men in these little boys!
I also got lots of phone calls, cards, and social media birthday wishes. I wasn't expecting a thing, but it turned out to be a great day!
