I'm not sure words can express how grateful Mike and I were for my mom. She braved 6 full days with my boys so Mike and I could enjoy Cancun. It really was the only way I would go with Pierce still so little. I still wrote 9 pages of type written notes for my mom and I was worried to leave, but when she got there, I knew everything would be just fine! She got everyone everywhere they were supposed to go and managed to have fun too, even in the horrible weather and large amount of snow.
Surprisingly, Pierce took right to her! Yeah! My mom said he didn't even miss us. She was a total trooper because Pierce decided to wake up basically every night and try to not sleep with her in our bed and go on a hunger strike. She said he was fine as long as she held him all day ;). The big boys couldn't wait for us to get out of town to be alone with grandma!
Grammy even managed to take some photos while she was here.
Jace's Basketball Game
I am so glad she got some photos, because I really should have written about basketball. Jace has been playing amazingly this year!! He is the anchor of the team and has a great shot, is super aggressive and has awesome hands. We are so proud of him and happy Grammy got to see him play!
At the middle school they have soccer goals on the side that make the perfect cage!
Parker's Basketball Game
Parker is also having an awesome year. We had no idea he was so good. He is small but quick and has great ball control. Both he and James are playing in a Christian basketball league called Upwards. It's been great because they don't play on Sunday (yeah!), they run through a tunnel at the beginning of the game and their name and number is announced, they start each game with a prayer, have a half time devotional and give stars at the end for things like "Christlike behavior" "sportsmanship" etc. The cool thing is that they still play really hard and their coaches push them too. It's been great so far. James was sick, so he didn't go to his game, but he is also doing great!
Library
Everyone wanted to go bowling, but the lanes were packed! So, the headed to the library instead.
Snow!
My poor mom. It was basically the worst weather week we had had all year. So, they did a lot of staying inside and a lot of snow shoveling. Bummer. She can make anything fun though!
Superbowl!
The boys for sure wanted to watch the Superbowl, so that was the evening activity. Not sure how into the game they really were, but it looked like fun.
McDonalds!
We don't do a lot of fast food, so McDonald's is always a treat. They love the playland too!
Chocolate!
The boys couldn't wait to tell me that they got to each chocolate every night :). My mom got the dipping chocolate with tons of fruit. Lucky boys.
Bath Time
So, I can't remember the last time all my boys were in the bath together, so this was kind of hilarious to me ;)!
Valentine Party!
On the last day, there was a snow day, so my mom put on a fantastic Valentine Party for the boys. Made it especially great that I didn't feel guilty about not doing one!
They guessed how many hearts were in the bottle.
They made me beautiful flower pens.
They ate yogurt pops.
A photo of Pierce finally eating.
They made beautiful pieces of jewelry for me and my mom.
Made homemade pink oreos.
Went on a scavenger hunt for 30 Valentines.
Got really cool prizes at the end.
And played a fun balloon popping game.
This boy loves balloons!
We were so happy to return home and see our sweet boys. We love them so much and missed them. It was especially fun to see Piercey who had changed in just a few days. I was so glad he loved me and Mike right away, but did still love grandma! My boys said they didn't miss us too much, but the next day all James wanted to do was snuggle with me :). It was great to see how well they were taken care of, but I was glad they still love us.
Thanks Grammy! You are the best!
