A God of Creation and Compassion

I love the General Women's Meeting our church holds once a year. I love to go, listen, and receive confirmation of my Heavenly Father's love for me--sometimes in a life full of kids and other responsibilities, it's easy to forget my real purpose here.
President Uchtdorf spoke to my heart tonight. I've never thought about what God's happiness is, and Elder Uchtdorf explained God as being a God of "creation and compassion." I loved that phrase and he encouraged us to emulate those qualities in our own lives. He told us we are spirit daughters of the most creative being in the universe and we all have part of him inside us. We should work at making the world more beautiful because we were here. I immediately thought of my sister-in-law Cassy (http://www.romneys.blogspot.com/). Everything she touches is immediately beautiful and I love that about her.
He talked of creation as briging something into existence that wasn't there before: smiles, laughs, children, learning, thoughts, order. There are so many options; he inspired me to more fully exercise my creative power.
He also pushed me toward being more compassionate--our Heavenly Father delights when we bless the lives of others, "bear one another's burdens and comfort those that stand in need of comfort." I need to continually work on that heavenly attribute. He said, "The number or prayers we say may contribute to our happiness, but the number of prayers we answer will be even more important to our happiness."
I am grateful that tonight he answered a prayer of mine and gave me guidance in a tumultuous world. How I love the gospel and our leaders--my testimony grows each day.

I loved it too! The great thing is that the same message to everybody can be so personal for all of us! What a wonderful gospel we belong to!
